Working At Home Again

Finally, I'm back! I'm working at home again. The difference would be the additional baby. I now have 2 kids and more wrinkles and stretch marks... yaikks.

I stopped writing for this blog because of another pregnancy and I really have to concentrate taking care of my 2 angels. But after being a full time mom, I realized I have to get my sanity back. I have to have another use for my brain and a useful and beneficial outlet.

I started sending emails to my former employers online. It was easy getting in touch with them as I continued our online friendship even I stopped working for them. In less than a week, I got 2 SEO writing offers and a job as a personal virtual assistant. I got 2 more offers that I have to decline because I can't do it all.

Well, I think I have more than enough to get things rolling. Time management is the key. Hopefully, I can pull it all off.

Tools of the Trade: What You Need To Become A WAHM

If you have now decided that you like to be a work at home mom then you must know what tools you should acquire to get things going.

1. A reliable and updated computer complete with a headset, webcam, and printer.

I personally favor the use of a laptop/notebook for mobility. As a mom, you can't really stay on one place to work all the time because your kids can be everywhere.

2. A stable and fast Internet connection. DSL or cable modem are the best options.

Be sure to get an Internet Service Provider (ISP) that provides fast service in case of Internet connection problems. You might lose some homebased online jobs you have if you fail to report to work because you don't have an access to the Internet.

3. Latest version of Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office applications like Word, Excel, and Adobe.

4. A phone line for your homebased call center. You should also have Skype or Yahoo Messenger accounts so you can have the ability to call overseas/long distance.

5. Basic computer skills. Being Internet savvy helps a lot.

6. A business email address.

7. Education ranging from secondary to college.

8. Networking or "People" skills.

This will get you ahead of the competition. If you are very good in networking you'll be rewarded by receiving leads and referrals from people with whom you are connected.

9. Willingness to learn.

10. Time-management skills.

This is very important as the success of working at home depends largely on how you can manage your time.
